The August 31, 1951, is a date that we should keep our collective memory and popular.
But there was a previous event that is worthy to remember, especially for those who do not live and for new generations who need to soak up that inner strength of the movement's top leaders bring us from yesterday.
On 22 August, made an open forum and two million people, meet in front of a stage erected on the Avenida 9 de Julio, with his back to the Ministry of Public Works, in the Federal Capital.
Flags and banners with pictures of Evita and Peron, synthesize the excitement of the day: Both located in the box, some passengers are cheered by the crowd. Jose Espejo representing the CGT, asked Perón and Evita, to accept the nomination for President and Vice President for the next election.
She asks her "boys" be given a time to announce his decision and says "do what the people say." These words, carry both the authorities of the CGT and the Peronist Party, Evita declare candidacy on 28 August.
However, deteriorating health of the "champion of the poor 'was real and visible. Their rest periods were becoming more widespread. On the other hand, the social activities that developed and its influence on various sectors of government, were irritating to the armed forces and these two reasons, were too strong to be met when desired by the leaders of the CGT.
Beyond the time, comes the slow voice of Evita, August 31, 1951, to communicate a decision, part of the history of the Peronist people. Remember the "Day of renunciation" and for many, was the day of the value and courage.
This emotional speech, he conveyed that day at 20.30, on the national radio networks. Had been recorded at the presidential residence at noon and reached the heart of every neighborhood, every factory, every household in the city and countryside.
The transcription of these words of Evita, is a deserved tribute to the woman who gave her life for the poor and crystallized as part of the struggle among many other accomplishments, the female vote.
Evita said:
"I want to communicate to the Argentine people my final and irrevocable decision to renounce the honor with which workers and people of my country wanted to honor the historic Town Meeting on August 22.
Already
wonderful that evening will never forget my eyes and my heart, I realized that my position should not change control in the Peronist movement in any other job.
Since then, after this dialogue between my heart and my people have long pondered the solitude of my conscience I thought coldly. I made my own decision as final and irrevocable, presented to the Council of the Peronist Party and in the presence of our supreme commander, General Perón.
Now I know that the Argentine people by myself, the reasons for my resignation unwavering.
No tenía entonces, ni tengo en estos momentos, más que una sola ambición: que de mi se diga, cuando se escriba el capitulo maravilloso que la History will surely devote Perón, Perón was beside a woman who was dedicated to carrying the president, the hopes of the people and that women, people affectionately called her EVITA. that's what I want to be ... "Evita
voted for the first and only time, from her sickbed at the Polyclinic of Lanus. He could see the joy of the people, to the overwhelming success of the fibula in the elections of 11 November.
thought that his words "give up the honors, not to fight. My place of battle is the work ", I could meet.
The opposition said that with or without Evita in the formula, could not cope against Peron and advanced decision a blow to democracy.
A 59 years of historical denial, his words revived one last wish and today the town is affectionately called "Evita."
Their struggles and tenacity are motivators in this time of national uncertainty. We should think that even possible by example to start a new path, because there is plenty to do, to rectify and change in Argentina, to improve the quality of life for residents and have the country we dream of and deserve.
